“BRILLIANT MINDS” PROJECT

Education in Ecuador is a subject that has been debated and improved dramatically over the years but remains one of our biggest concerns in rural areas such as Malchingui, were our flower farm is located. Literacy in the rural areas was at dangerously low numbers and the lack of public schools also posed a problem. Most parents were not able to pay the fees required at private institutions and only a few of the teachers that were available in the rural communities were accredited.

Due to our concern about such a sensible subject, we decided for the first time ever, to engage with the support of Aeme Representaciones, Ecuaquímica and Syngenta on a noble project that seeks to improve the access to education of children of our employees.

The project began on September of 2016, awarding six of the most outstanding students of the school in Malchingui, an ecuadorian rural area where approximately 80% of our workers live.

After only year we have seen the social impact it had on the lifes of the people who work here and that now understand that education refers to the systematic process of gaining knowledge and skills through study and instructions. It has many benefits and has positive impact in our life, specially in developing countries where the sustainable development of economy and society is closely related to education. 

In conclusion, the aim of education is not to develop one single virtue but to produce healthy normal human beings who understand the meaning of life and what it demands from them. As an ecuadorian company we have the responsability of having a positive impact on our society, not gain profit from it but because is the right thing to do. If students are intellectually and morally brought up on co-operation, most of our troubles would be at an end and life would be much healthier, richer and nobler than ever before.
